5 Tips To Attain Emotional Wellness over the Holidays

It might seem surprising to see this topic since the holiday season is usually one of laughter, which naturally blends with wellness. However, I listened to an inspiring message that reminded me of how people often get a bit anxious around this time of the year trying to create a joyful season with the perfect gift, when the season itself represents joy without the additives. If we took a moment this holiday to experience the simple blessings around us, then wellness and the holiday would find a natural balance.

Here are five tips to help you attain emotional wellness:

  1. Spend a day over the holiday season reminiscing with loved ones on times gone by. Cherish those historical junctures in some memorable way, such as creating a photo album, making a video, or even writing a story.
  2. Give or create a meaningful holiday card. There is so much power in sharing those positive feelings in words with someone. Give someone a greeting card this holiday.
  3. Do some quiet self-reflection and acknowledge one thing accomplished this year that did not seem possible. Reward yourself for this, then choose one personal item you will commit to improving in the new year.
  4. Twelve months is a long time for any of us to have not hurt or wronged someone, so offer the gift of Forgiveness to someone for the pain they caused you this year and forgive yourself for holding on to the anger for so long.
  5. For each of us who made it through another challenging year, we are grateful for life, but we need to demonstrate this gratitude. Do a meaningful task for someone, help a stranger, and express gratitude with deeds of kindness.

There is no greater way to bring your emotional wellness into perfect alignment than through positivity. Happy Holidays everyone!
